Well, we lost pretty badly in football, but at least the weekend featured many other excellent Irish victories. On Friday night, we went to see the first round of the women’s soccer NCAA tournament, featuring ND and IUPUI (curiously, Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis). ND had no problem shutting out IUPUI. They played Central Michigan in the second round today and again won easily. Next up is the third round against Oregon State, also at our stadium, this Friday night. Our women’s soccer team kicks some serious tush!

On Saturday, we cheered on the men’s basketball team in their season opener against North Florida. They won handily and Coach Brey was able to give the whole bench plenty of playing time.

Let’s ignore Saturday night, ok?

Today we witnessed an incredible effort from the Irish hockey team. They tied the score in the third period, survived sudden-death overtime, and won out in an epic shootout battle. There were tumbleweeds, y’all. Justified revenge for the team’s loss on Saturday.

Anyway, just pointing out the bright spots in Irish sports this weekend. See all you Domers at the men’s basketball game tomorrow night 🙂
