When we graduated, we were required to fill out surveys detailing our post-undergraduate-degree plans. Those of us who answered “No clue- Can you hire me?” have been receiving weekly newsletters from the Career Center. Sort of a remedial job search course.
The first one was “Interviewing Skills” and there have also been ones like “Networking” and “The Art of the Cover Letter.”
This week’s? Week 6? “Job Search Burn-out.”
“The constant searching for jobs, few solid leads, the rejection notices, and worst of all – never hearing back from companies to which you have applied – it is easy to see why one would feel burned out.”
In other words: “The situation is dire. Waitressing might be a legitimate career move at this point.”
Thanks, Career Center. I feel better already.
